Heritage Tours. Susan E. Clemons is co-owner and serves as Director of Operations. There is only two of us so
we both wear a lot of other hats as well.
A paddler at heart, with a deep love of all things wild, Matt has spent his life protecting Florida's environment.
After receiving degrees in Marine Science and Wildlife Biology and spending a 17 year career serving with several
State of Florida conservation agencies, Matt has rejoined the private sector with the formation of Aardvark's
Florida Kayak Company. Matt personally leads as many of our Eco-Heritage tours as possible and is an ACA
certified SUP Instructor and holds a Coastal Kayak Guide endorsement.

Susan has an equal love and respect of wild animals and Florida's environment. She has spent most of her adult life
protecting and interpreting Florida's irreplaceable natural and cultural resources as a Florida Park Service Ranger.
Susan was one of the first female state park rangers and taught advanced interpretation at ranger academy.
Susan spent 32 years (her entire career) headquartered at the Crystal River Archaeological State Park. She was
also responsible for programs at the Yulee Sugar Mill State Park. Before her retirement, she was the longest
serving employee at the Park and has accumulated extensive knowledge of Florida's pre-columbian culture.
If you're looking for something different, you're in the right place. We offer guided tours led by a professional
paddler and biologist. We offer something for every level of experience.
Our tours come from a somewhat different perspective in that the trip leader has actual research experience with
manatees and 15 years field experience in wildlife management and biology in the area where we will be paddling.
As a preserve manager, Matt has a true understanding of eco -tourism. Susan has spent 30 years as a Florida
Park Ranger and in addition to being a professional paddler, has extensive experience in interpretation of Florida's
Ecology and Heritage.
We understand that true Eco-Tourism revolves around small groups and features minimal intrusion and a leave no
trace ethic. That's what you'll find at Aardvark's Florida Kayak Company. In keeping with our philosophy of
quality over quantity, in addition to our guided trips, we offer a small, high quality rental fleet and an excellent
selection of kayaks and paddling accessories.
We suggest that you shop around and find out what qualifications your guides have as well as what equipment is
being used and how large the groups will be. If we are not available to accommodate your needs, there are other
kayak outfitters that we recommend. Lars Anderson, who with his wife, run Adventure Outpost in High Springs,
Nature Coast Kayak Tours in Crystal River, and Brack Barker of Wild Florida Adventures out of Williston. All
have high ethical standards and similar attitudes on manatee interaction.
