Aardvarks sponsors a kayak club of sorts, Aardvark's Nature Coast Kayakers.  It is very loosely organized and
anyone can join in.  No dues, officers, or anything that resembles order.  It works like this: Aardvark picks a bunch of
places he wants to go for the month on his days off and posts the places and dates in the current newsletter and here.
If you want to come along, check the appropriate boxes, enter your e-mail notification information and hit send when
you're through.
I keep track of all the responses and then notify all the interested parties as to particulars
as the dates approach. (
Usually the Friday before the trip)  Free with your own boat or rent one from Aardvark's
($37.10 including tax and transport). Sometimes there are other non-Aardvark fees.
Please sign up no later than
one week in advance so I can do the planning.  After that I can't guarantee you'll be in the loop. Don't
expect a response until just before the trip.  At about 3 days out the weather forecast is accurate enough
to call the trip.

First we have a Shell Island trip.  From Ft. Island, we'll shoot over to the mouth of Crystal River and Shell island.  After a
stop on the "beach", the plan is to head south to Mullet Key and circle back through the outer islands. About 8 miles.

This month we'll do 2 segments of the Circumnavigation Trail.  The first will be the north end. This is rated an advanced
paddle because of the length and the open water.. We'll need to set up a shuttle for this one.  Plan is to leave from the
ramp on the Cross Florida Greenway, check out the established camp site on the spoil islands, head offshore through
the Progress Energy cut and end up at Ft. Island. About 9 miles (mostly open water).

Next is an easy paddle on Bennett's Creek.  The spoonbills are in.  count on a gator or 2. About 6 miles.

On over to the east side for the next one.  We'll do the Panasofkee outfall a portion of the Withlacoochee.  Another 6
miler.

The short portion of the Circumnavigation Trail is next.  We'll run the trail from Ozello to Homosassa.  We'll need shuttle
drivers for this one too. About 7 miles.

Next comes a trip to the Tsala Apopka Lake Chain.  We'll paddle the Flor
al City area.  If the water is up, we may try the
Orange canal toward the Withlacoochee.  Anybody have any info on levels there? Distance unknown at this point.
Guess at about 7.
Have since checked and there is plenty of water in the Withlacoochee upstream from Coogler
Dam.

Finally a trip out of the area to the Santa Fe and Ginnnie Springs.  We'll use my friend Lars at Adventure Outpost as a
shuttle. This is an easy downriver trip with time for some swimming.  Cost should be around $10.

There has been a slight change in policy for those needing rental boats.  We now find we must apply the
same reservation and cancellation policy that we use for our standard rentals.  Rentals can be reserved by
prepaying or providing a credit card number.  If weather forces a cancellation there is no charge. You may
cancel out up to the 5 pm the night before the trip and there is no charge. Other than that you'll be charged
for the rental boat.
Once you've submitted the form, kick back and relax.  I usually send out maps and final itinerary 2 or 3
days before the event.  If you haven't heard anything by the night before, you might want to check in.
Hint: Double check your e-mail address before you submit, if it's not right or not there, I can't send you
the info.
