The Florida Kayak Company is a full service paddlesport business providing sea kayak tours, guided trips, kayak rentals and
accessory sales to resident and visiting paddlers. We offer nature based trips on the Crystal, Salt, Chassahowitzka,
Rainbow and Withlacoochee Rivers, as well as specialty trips for manatee observation, dolphin watching, birding, and
trips to Rainbow Springs and State Wildlife Refuges. We offer an alternative or even a compliment to the Disney
experience that is Orlando. Even a beginner can enjoy our trips and classes. In a matter of minutes, you'll be gliding with manatees
and soaring with bald eagles. Members of the Paddlesport Industry Association, Professional Paddlesports Association, the ACA
(American Canoe Association), and the Nature Coast Ecotourism Alliance.

including the full line of Hurricane Kayaks. We also offer use of the Kestrel line by Current Designs.

| Come Kayak with Manatees. Citrus County is probably best known for its manatee or "seacow" population. The waters of Citrus County are the winter home of upwards of 400 West Indian Manatees (Trichechus manatus latirostris). This accounts for 15%-20% of the Florida population. These unique creatures are listed as endangered by both state and federal governments and Citrus County has adopted additional measures to further protect the species. | The Chassahowitzka River is clear, shallow, and spring fed and wild. The Chassahowitzka is one of our river trips. The Chass runs from the head springs to the Gulf of Mexico through State Preserve and National Wildlife Refuge lands. Teaming with wildlife, scenery and history, the Chassahowitzka is one of the Nature Coast's most unspoiled rivers. Guided kayak trips depart the Chassahowitzka River Campground and follow the river with the opportunity to explore sinks and springs on the run down and back. Manatees in summer, avian and aquatic life can be observed year round. Best paddled on weekdays to avoid crowds. |
| One of our favorite coastal trips is to the Backcountry. This trip leaves from the wonderful world of Oz (Ozello) and features clear, shallow water and a maze of mangrove islands..This is where local knowledge really pays off. We go where the wind and tide takes us.. Eagles and white pelicans in winter, wading birds in summer. Dolphins can appear at any time. Trip features 2 stops to explore pre-columbian shell middens time and weather permitting. Please take back nothing but memories. |

| The Hours for retail and rental operation are 9-5 Wednesday thru Saturday and 1 to 5 on Sunday. The retail shop and rentals are CLOSED Mondays and Tuesdays. Aardvark's is a small shop by design and personalized customer service is what we do best. We know paddling and we'll take the time to talk to you and answer your questions. If you stop by and we are not there, look for the "Back at:" sign next to the front door. That'll tell you when we'll be back. Typically it'll only be a few minutes as we pick up or drop off our rental boats. We believe that if you want something done right, do it yourself. Our pledge is to have the best kayaks on the Bay.
